The Benefits Of Responsive Web Design

Three blank display panels of descending size standing in a row, each with a faint cyan edge glow.

Pull up your website on your phone right now. Go ahead, I’ll wait.

If you had to pinch and zoom to read anything, that’s what more than half your visitors are dealing with. And they’re not as patient as you are, because they don’t already own the place.

What Responsive Actually Means

One website that rearranges itself to fit whatever it’s opened on.

Same pages, same content, same address. The layout just reflows so a phone gets a phone-shaped version instead of a shrunken desktop one. That’s the whole idea.

People Stay Longer

This is the obvious one, but it’s worth saying plainly. When a site is readable and the buttons are big enough to hit with a thumb, people stick around.

When it isn’t, they leave in a couple of seconds. They don’t email you to complain about it. They just go find somebody else.

Google Cares

Google decides your ranking based on the mobile version of your site. Not the desktop one.

If your site is rough on a phone, that’s the version being graded. You can have the best desktop site in your county and still lose to a competitor with a plain one that works properly on an iPhone.

It’s Cheaper Than the Alternative

The old way was building a second site just for mobile. Two sites, two sets of updates, two chances to forget something.

One responsive site means you change your hours once. Not twice, and not “twice, except you forgot the mobile one and it said Closed Sundays for a year.”

It Closes More Business

Somebody looking up a contractor on their phone in a parking lot is ready to call right now.

If your number is one tap away, you get that call. If they have to zoom around hunting for it, you probably don’t.

Want to know how yours holds up? Reach out anytime. I’ll pull it up on a real phone and tell you what I see.

GOT A PROJECT?

Less reading, more building.
