Case Study: How One Long-Term Client Got a Faster, Cheaper, Better Website

The Client

This client has been with Live Web Studios for years. Long relationship, healthy site, no e-commerce. Exactly the profile we look for when we’re thinking “ready to migrate.” They were running WordPress on a traditional VPS. Functional, maintained, and carrying all the usual overhead.

So we had a real conversation about what moving to the new stack would mean. They asked good questions. We gave straight answers. Then we built it.

What We Did

We rebuilt the site on a clean modern stack. HTML, CSS, and JS, deployed through Netlify. Forms run through Formspree. Content lives in Decap CMS, so they can still update their own pages. The design carried over, and we tightened it up along the way. The whole migration took about a week of actual build time.

What Changed

Load time: Meaningfully faster. Google PageSpeed scores improved significantly on both mobile and desktop. The database round-trips are gone. The plugin stack is gone. What’s left loads fast.

Hosting cost: Reduced. Netlify’s hosting for a site this size is a fraction of traditional VPS pricing. That margin stays with the client.

Maintenance burden: Near zero. No plugin updates, no core updates, no security patches to babysit. The site just runs.

What Didn’t Change

Monthly rate. Same price, better product. That’s the conversation we’re having with every client going through this process.

What’s Next

This site is now the template. The workflow we built here becomes the repeatable process for everyone else. That’s how you scale this kind of thing as a solo operator. You nail it once, then you replicate it.
