The Tool Most Business Owners Have Never Opened
Google Analytics gets all the attention. And it’s useful. It tells you how many people visited your site, where they came from, what they did once they got there. But Google Search Console tells you something different. For SEO, something more important. What people were searching for when your site showed up, and what happened next.
What Google Search Console Shows You
Impressions. How many times your site appeared in a Google search result. You don’t have to rank #1 to appear. Every time you show up on any page of results, that’s an impression.
Clicks. How many people actually clicked through to your site from those results.
Click-through rate. The percentage of impressions that turned into clicks. This tells you whether your title tags and descriptions are good enough to earn the click once you show up.
Average position. Where your site ranks on average for a given keyword. Position 1 is the top result. Anything in the top 10 is on the first page.
Top queries. The actual search terms people used when they found you. This is gold. It tells you what your audience is looking for, and whether your content matches.
What We Do With This Data
Every monthly report we send pulls from Search Console. We look for keywords where you’re appearing but not getting clicks. That’s often a title or description problem we can fix fast. We look for keywords where you’re sitting on page 2. Those are targets. A little content work can push them to page 1. And we track the trends over time, so we can see what’s actually working.
How to Set It Up
