Twenty years this month.
It started because a plumber I knew needed a website. Then a friend of his did. Then it had a name and a phone number and somehow that was the job.
I was a sysadmin in corporate finance before this. I was not happy there. Best thing I ever did was leave.
What Twenty Years Actually Looks Like
It looks like a lot of Mondays.
It looks like clients who’ve been with me since their kids were small, and whose kids now email me about the website. It looks like four or five complete rebuilds of how this work even gets done, because the web kept moving and you either move with it or you become the guy who still builds in tables.
I’ve watched Flash die. I’ve watched mobile go from an afterthought to the main event. I’m watching the next one now, and it’s a big one.
The New Site
Speaking of which, there’s a new Live Web Studios site as of this week.
Faster, cleaner, and it actually looks right on a phone, which is embarrassing to say about your own site but there it is. The portfolio is current for the first time in a while.
Go poke at it. Tell me what’s broken. Somebody always finds something.
The Thank You
Everybody who’s ever hired me got a free business graphic layout out of this, a couple hundred dollars of work, as a thank you for twenty years.
That’s a 2024 thing and it’s long closed now, but I’m leaving it here because it’s part of the record… and because the sentiment hasn’t changed.
Honestly
I didn’t plan any of this. There was no business plan. There was a plumber.
Twenty years later I still answer my own phone, and that’s still the part I’m proudest of.
Thanks for being part of it. Call me anytime, same as always.
Jon
